HIFU Face Treatments

What is HIFU Non-Surgical Face Lift?

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, HIFU is one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures in the world. This revolutionary treatment is the only TGA approved treatment specifically targeting lines and wrinkles on the face and neck. It is clinically proven to get results only previously attainable through surgery or invasive procedures such as Botox.

HIFU harnesses the power of ultrasound to safely lift and tighten the skin. Unlike similar treatments such as laser or radio frequency, the high intensity focused ultra sound can penetrate deeper into the skin, targeting skin breakdown at its foundation layer, where structural weakening starts.

HIFU uses concentrated beams of ultrasound energy to rejuvenate the skin in precisely targeted areas. The treatment acts to tighten the dermis, and promotes new sub-dermal collagen formation.  Overall skin retraction will, of course, depend on the specific individual.

Drooping skin makes your eyes look tired and changes the contours of the neck and chin. How great it would be if you could fight the signs of ageing without surgery? High-intensity focused ultrasound firms and lifts your skin for a non-surgical facelift and neck lift.

Why Choose HIFU?

Impressive results in 1 session

Immediately after the treatment some tightening of the skin is observed, and the effect increases over the following 3 – 6 months due to new collagen formation in conjunction with the continued retraction of the connective tissue matrix. You will continue to see a visible reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and a notable improvement in facial contouring.

Lifts the Face & Firms the Neck

HIFU provides similar benefits to a traditional facelift working to rejuvenate the skin and tighten the muscles only without the surgery, pain or downtime. HIFU can be used wherever the skin starts to sag of lose suppleness. For the face, this is typically under the chin, around the jawline, around the eyes and under the brows.

Results Can Last Up to 18 Months

The immediate effects of your treatment will continue to develop over time and many clients continue to experience a more contoured look for up to 18 months post treatment.

No Downtime

There is no downtime required after a HIFU non-surgical treatment. Because of the restored elasticity your skin will feel renewed, softer and more supple.

Penetrates Below Skin’s Surface

We use the latest HIFU technology, TGA approved device (ARTG 367211), which can penetrate up to 4.5mm below the skin’s surface to go beyond the dermis into the subcutaneous tissue to tighten the superficial muscle layer (SMAS) where the skin starts to weaken.

Clinically Proven & Safe Technology

HIFU technology has been around for many years and has undergone a range of clinical studies to demonstrate its effectiveness in delivering facial rejuvenation and skin-tightening effects in the treatment area.

What happens during a HIFU Treatment?

Your therapist will cleanse and tone the skin prior to treatment, the face is then marked out with a white pencil to ensure the correct areas will be targeted. Ultrasound gel is applied to the skin and the handpiece lightly pressed to the skin. Each ultrasound shot is carried out one by one across the skin with each necessary cartridge. Ultrasound gel will be removed and finishing products will be applied.

  • Procedure time - 30 minutes – 2 hours depending on treatment area
  • Results can be seen from 1 treatment; some clients may repeat treatment to achieve their desired result.
  • No numbing needed
  • No patch test required

HIFU FAQ’S

How does HIFU non-surgical facelift work?

HIFU technology delivers ultrasound energy waves which penetrate deep into the skin, targeting 3 layers below the surface of the skin:
1. Epidermis 1.5mm
Results: smoothen wrinkles and contour skin
2. Dermis 3.0mm
Results:  boost collagen, improve skin texture and minimise skin imperfections
3. Facial Muscles (known as the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) 4.5mm that are normally worked on by cosmetic surgery
Results: lifts skin and create the shaping effect

The ultrasound energy causes the tissue to heat up rapidly (above 60~C). The skin’s response to this energy is to stimulate the growth of fresh, new collagen and elastin.

The increase in collagen results in tighter, firmer, smoother skin with less wrinkles. Since the high-frequency ultrasound beams are focused on a specific tissue site below the skin’s surface, there is no damage to the upper layers of the skin and adjacent tissue.

Is it safe?

The HIFU procedure has been used safely in millions of treatments worldwide. HIFU is the only TGA approved non-surgical facelift treatment available. We use the latest TGA approved device that has the most up to date technology available. Ultrasound energy itself has been used safely in all aspects of the medical field for over 50 years.

Does it hurt?

Clients can experience momentary discomfort during the procedure whilst the ultrasound energy is being deposited into the skin. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.

Is there any downtime?

With the HIFU treatment there is no downtime. After your procedure, you can resume your normal activities immediately, without having to follow any special post-treatment measures. You may see a slight redness or tingling for up to a few hours or days following the treatment, but these are usually mild and do not last for too long.

When will I see results?

Some patients may see the initial effect instantly, but ultimately lifting and firming will take place over approximately 3-6 months, as the collagen is renewed and replaced with new, stronger collagen.

How many HIFU treatments will I need?

As this varies from person to person, we can discuss with you how many treatments you may need at your initial consultation. Generally excellent results can be achieved after just one HIFU facial treatment. However, based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy and the client’s collagen-building process, some clients benefit from additional treatments. The procedure is best suited for patients with mild-to-moderate skin laxity, and you may need to have the procedure repeated in one to two years as the natural aging process takes over. Future touch up treatments can help keep pace with the ageing process, which varies by each individual.

How long does the HIFU face treatment take?

The length of the treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A full face procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while an eye treatment on its own takes approximately 20-30 minutes.

Is the HIFU non-surgical face lift right for me?

HIFU works to tighten the same muscles that are tightened during an actual cosmetic facelift (only no surgery). Typically, HIFU is designed for more mature skin however in some cases, it can be suitable for younger skin types. A HIFU non-surgical face lift treatment is great for the following skin concerns; ageing skin, fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, loose skin, face needing contouring, skin needing tightening, toning or definition.
